Abstract

Every newborn needs essential care which must be initiated as soon as the baby is born and continued for at least the first month of life. In the absence or less of this care, new born morbidity and mortality may occur.
Objectives
To determine the level of maternal competence of essential new born care, identify factor influencing the maternal competence level of postnatal mothers, and examine the relationship between maternal competence and selected socio-demographic variables.
