CPQ Pulmonology

A Pulmonologist is a pivotal respiratory physician with a medical speciality that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. It is a branch of internal medicine and is related to intensive care medicine. Pulmonologists often involves in managing patients who need life support and mechanical ventilation. They are specially trained in diseases and conditions of the chest, particularly pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, emphysema and complicated chest infections. Interventional Pulmonologists are also of the relative field within pulmonary medicine that deals with the usage of procedures such as bronchoscopy and pleuroscopy to treat several pulmonary diseases and is increasingly recognized as a specific medical specialty. Pulmonologist takes the responsibility to diagnose with a review focusing on hereditary diseases affecting the lungs like cystic fibrosis, alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, exposure to toxins such as tobacco smoke, asbestos, exhaust fumes, coal mining fumes, exposure to infectious agents, an autoimmune diathesis that might predispose to certain conditions like pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension.

Technological advancements with research in the field of Pulmonology enables to provide effective treatment for patients with chronic and traumatic illnesses and this medical care is the only hope to lead a healthy life.
